Conner had another track meet today. This time he participated in the 4X100m, the 200m, and the long jump. It's a lot of fun to go to the meets to cheer him on. It's also fun to see him doing some of the same events I did when I ran track. He's even wearing my old sprinting spikes. When I showed him my old shoes, he said, "Those are awesome, retro style spikes, Dad. Can I have them?" The reaction was completely different than I thought it would be. I thought it would be more like, "Lame shoes, dad. Really lame. You used to wear those in public?" I was surprised. But the real surprise is that something I owned not too long ago is now being referred to as "retro."
Also this week, we went to Orem and celebrated Emery's big 1 year birthday with the biggest and bestest party ever—complete with a bounce-house castle, pinata and a cake that would rival even the most exquisite of wedding cakes. It was a lot of fun. Sadly, Emery will be living in Iowa next year and it will be hard for everyone to be there to help him celebrate his even bigger and more elaborate second birthday. Happy Birthday, Emery.

I hope my kids wanna wear my clothes.
You're right. The cake needs to be seen. I've updated the post with a link to the cake.
