Conner and I went camping with the scouts over the weekend. We went to Strawberry Reservoir to fish for crawdads. I know what you're thinking. You're thinking "How can I get in on some of that crazy crawdad fishing action." Never fear. You've come to the right blog today, because you're about to learn the finer points of being a crawdad fisherman. Lucky you.
Step 1. Wait for dark
Step 2. Tie a piece of raw chicken (usually a drumstick) to a 20' section of rope.
Step 3. Wade out into the water with your raw chicken.
Step 4. Place the chicken on the ground about 15' to 20' from shore.
Step 5. Wait 30 seconds
Step 6. Haul in your crawdad dinner.
Step 7. Repeat as necessary.
And that's about all there is to it. It's quite easy. Now you will be the envy of the entire neighborhood as you show off your crawdad feast.
Crawdads are freshwater crayfish. They look and taste similar to lobster. They're actually pretty good, especially if they're dipped in butter. Come to think of it, cardboard is pretty good dipped in butter, as well.
The camping trip was a lot of fun. However, Seth and Devin had a curious skunk sniffing around in their tent in the middle of the night. It actually walked right past Seth's head and brushed his face with its tail. There were a few tense moments before the skunk finally got bored and wandered off. I'm particularly glad the skunk didn't get agitated. My tent was set-up a mere 2-feet from theirs.

Thanks for sharing the fine art of crawdad catching and cooking. They look like they might be pretty good to eat.
As always, I especially enjoy Ry's fine art of "reporting".
Looks like a lot of fun! Tim said the crawdad's were pretty good.
Ok I've seen 2 crawdad's in my lifetime and they were not as big as those. Those are HUGE compaired to what I caught. That looks fun too.
