Erica and I had a lunch date today. Christian tagged along, too. We went to the Monet to Picasso exhibit going on at the Utah Museum Of Fine Arts. The exhibit is showcasing original works by most of the modern European masters. "Like who," you ask? Like Van Gogh, Monet, Salvador Dali, Picasso, Matisse, Renoir, Degas, Rodin, Cezanne, Mondrian—and that's just to name a few. If you haven't been yet, you're not out of luck. The exhibit will be here until September 21st. It's the first time a show like this has been here in Salt Lake. It was incredible. We only had 2 hours to see it during an extended lunch. It would have been nice to have had at least 3 hours.
Don't get me started talking about art and art history. You'll wish you hadn't. I'll bore you to death with art facts and stories that I find fascinating, but most people find pretty boring. Just ask Erica. She heard every story I know about Michelangelo and Da Vinci on our Italian vacation a few years ago.
Poor Erica.
So, needless to say, it was an incredible experience. Now, go get tickets before it's too late.

This was my favorite piece in the exhibit.
It's Van Gogh's, Poplars at St-Remy.

Great, so the Nakaya's leave and this exhibition comes into town!
I would LOVE it.
I did art history at University a little. I'd love to hear all your stories.
I didn't know this about you.
I wonder if they're coming to Moscow?
Maybe you could put a good word in for me.
I think Tim and I will have to get tickets. It sounds great.
I too am a huge art nut. I did a paper in college on the portrayal of women in late medieval and early renaissance art. Not a topic for church, but fascinating nonetheless. I fell in love with art at a young age, but it was solidified when I went to the Vatican. Italy is amazing for art history as I am sure you know. My friends had to practically drag me out of the Metropolitan museum of art the last time we were in NYC. You can chat art with me for hours if you want :) What a fun day date with your cute wife.
