I went to the Norman Rockwell exhibit at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building in Salt Lake yesterday. Norman Rockwell has always been one of my favorite illustrators. It was an incredible opportunity to be able to see some of his work in-person. I love the emotion he was able to portray in his paintings. He definitely mastered the medium. There were 10 original paintings on display. Salt Lake is one of only 8 cities to host the exhibit. All the pieces had a Boy Scout theme. Norman Rockwell was the official Boy Scouts of America illustrator for over 50 years. Below are several pieces that were displayed at the exhibit. These digital versions hardly do the originals justice.

I love the expressions on the Scouts' faces.

I'd never heard about this artist.
Thanks Ryan.
His work is brilliant.
Those are some great pictures. I've seen a couple of them but the rest where new to me.
Found your blog! (and will now be a reader) I've, also, always liked the facial expressions Rockwell caught. I saw the funniest one in the vet's office days ago...a small little boy clutching his puppy among other HUGE dogs.
Thanks for sharing these great ones.
