The Anderson boys (minus Christian, he's still a little young) went on the first annual Anderson boys fishing expedition last week. Our intent was to catch and eat fish—and do manly things in the mountains, like making fires, using knives, gathering falcon feathers and eating with our elbows on the picnic table. Whoa, rowdy stuff, huh? We threw in various grunting noises every so often for full manly effect.
We stayed in my parent's camp-trailer and had access to the 4-wheelers, as well. It was a lot of fun. One of the highlights was seeing a bobcat as we pulled into our camp spot. They're very reclusive, so sightings are rare. We felt lucky to have seen one. Erica can't understand why that's lucky—knowing you're sleeping in the vicinity of a wild bobcat.
We ended up catching 7 fish between the 3 of us—all Rainbow trout. We found many great fishing holes which helped to make the trip a great success. The best part of the outing, however, was just spending time together as the Anderson boys. I've posted several photos below to show many of the activities and highlights of the trip.

It was a beautiful area for fishing.

Here are the Anderson boys at the half way point of the hike we took on the second day.

We found several really nice fishing holes.

We fished...

...and fished.

I love this photo. Look at that proud fisherman with his mighty catch. Adam didn't even know that this little guy was on the hook when he reeled him in. Essentially, he just replaced his bait with a slightly larger bait. Needless to say, this fish was NOT a keeper, although Adam complained loudly about not wanting to throw him back.

I love this photo, too. Look at Adam eyeing his fish. This one is a much better size.

Conner was the most fortunate of the 3 fishermen on this trip. He caught 5 fish in total.

These are the three fish we had for dinner on the second night of the trip.

Here we are having fish for dinner. They were very good. This photo does a great job showing who liked the fish and who wished we would have had pizza.

This is a frontage road access tunnel through one of the mountains.

Here's the little camp trailer we called "home" for the expedition.

This is the inside of the trailer. The beds were so comfortable it hardly felt like we were camping.

Here we are in an old mine shaft I used to go exploring in when I was a boy. My boys were worried we might run into a rattlesnake inside, so we didn't spend much time there.

We saw several of these around the camp area. I'm sure the bobcat saw them, as well.

I love those curtains in the camper.
What a great time.
So did the girls get to taste any of the rainbow?
How fun! There's nothing better than fresh fish cooked over the camp fire and eaten for breakfast. Glad you had a great time.
It makes our hearts glad that you were able to use the property and enjoy yourselves. Glad you had fun. We wish we could have joined you, but we had an absolutely awesome trip across the U.S.
