We went to the zoo today to celebrate Makenah's birthday. It was a little cold (I guess that's to be expected when you go to the zoo in October) but we still had fun. Erica wasn't able to make it, so you won't find her in any of the proceeding photos. She was co-hosting a baby shower. We missed her. Tears were shed. But to be completely honest, I think most of the tears weren't because of the lack of Erica, it was more of my lack to comply with the incessant cotton candy requests.Happy birthday Makenah! Thanks for letting us party with you.

Conner's getting tall (It's only fitting to talk about "height" as he stands in front of the giraffes). But seriously, look at the first photo in this post. He's now as tall as all of his Aunts on my side of the family.

I pointed the camera at Aliza and said, "smile." This is what she gave me. I think she has a future in modeling.

All the ladies.

I caught Abbie in this amorous moment.

And here's the birthday girl, showing off her loot.

After the zoo, we monopolized the Arby's dining area.

And last, but certainly not least, Erica took Christian to the school this week to get his photo taken with the rest of the kids on portrait day. When she arrived with Christian—dressed as one of the J Crew models—they found the photographer had already packed up his gear and was gone. Erica didn't want her morning full of teaching Christian how to smile for a photo to go to waste, so she had an informal photo shoot at home. Here's Christian's best effort. Quite dapper, if you ask me.

goodness sakes. that christian pose is about the best thing i've seen on this blogosphere in awhile. emery started freaking out "tistian! tistian!" and then he said, "happy", and showed me a cheese smile just like tistian's. miss you a million.
see you in a month!
Ry,
I loved the post of everyone at the zoo. I felt sad we couldn't be there, but I HAD to have a day to get many things done at school and home. Not much got done at home, but I spent the entire day at school.
I cried inside every time I looked outside and saw what an absolutely perfect day we had here and wished I were with the family enjoying the day together.
I had to prepare a R.S. lesson for next Sunday, and SEP (Parent) Conferences on Thurs. and Friday, plus I had a ton of things to do in my classroom that's been on hold for quite some time.
So thanks so much for the wonderful photos of all the family to help us feel somewhat a part of the fun. Looks like ya'll had a wonderful time.
We'll see all of you next weekend but we'll have to be back on Sunday for Dad's high council talk and my R.S. lesson. We had our little celebration with Makenah last week when they were here.
Sure do love all of you....MOM
Thanks for letting Erica lend her wonderful touches for the shower. Very appreciated on my end. Sorry that she missed the family outing.
