July 24th Weekend Barn-Burner

Our Pioneer Day weekend was one for the history books. We crammed as much fun as was humanly possibly into a mere 48 hours. See the play-by-play below.
On Friday, we set up water activities aplenty at the neighborhood pavilion and let the kids run rampant. This goes without saying but, mob rules reigned supreme and truces were non-existent
We had a barbecue with both the Anderson and Harris sides of the family.
Hi-Ho Silver, away! Yeehaw!

The real fun started when Lance set-up the most outrageously enormous slip-'n-slide this side of the Mississippi. With the incline of the hill and gravity working to our advantage, we were coming ridiculously close to toppling the slip-'n-slide ground-speed world record. The kids will remember this as one of the greatest summer afternoons of their childhood. Thank you Lance, for bringing the entertainment spark-plug.
Here's Hannah and Jonah preparing to break the sound barrier.
Whooosh!

We then headed over to Main Street for the annual Handcart Days Parade. It has become very popular in recent years. I've never seen so many people jockeying for position in order to land a suitable parade-viewing location. This year's parade was particularly long. After the parade, we watched the fireworks from the comfort of our backyard.

Bright and early the next morning, Conner and I went water-skiing with Scott and Sterling Lemon. The water was great.

After our morning of water-skiing fun, we headed over to the park for Handcart Days food, fun and games. Like I said before, we crammed a surplus of activities into our weekend. It was a lot of fun. Now if you'll excuse me, it's time for a nap.

Holy Smokes...that looks fun!!! Sorry we couldn't join you...but there's always another year. By all means, don't chuck the big slip n slide. That thing is WILD!!

Our fun was a little more subdued...but we loved every minute of it. See our blog for more details.

As always, I loved the 'colorful' narration from an "artist of words".
