Adam's Week Of Celebration

Adam's birthday was last week and, as most Anderson birthday celebrations go, we extended it well past the expiration date. Why not? A birthday only rolls around once a year. Let's give it the celebratory observance it deserves. And this one was a particularly notable birthday. He turned eight this year. So here's an inventory of Adam's week of activities worth celebrating.
The night before his birthday, Adam and I went to the Jazz game. We were lucky enough to be watching from the 7th row thanks to the agency tickets I scored that day. Adam was a lot of fun to watch at the game. He wore his Jazz wig and did his best to get featured on the Jumbo-tron, but alas, no luck. It wasn't for lack of excitement, though.
The next day we celebrated Adam's birthday with pizza and cake served on our finest china.
And his cake was no ordinary, run-of-the-mill, out-of-the-box sheet cake. No. It was a work of art worthy to be featured in the Louvre. And if it were prominently featured in a museum, the title card next to this baby would read, "Name: Link From Zelda Fame: Atop Castle, Bow Drawn To Slay Foe -Medium: Frosting And Cake."

Erica really outdid herself this time.
And all the hard work was worth it when you see an appreciative face like this one.
Next up was the ever popular "present opening time."
He received "stacking cups." If you don't know what stacking cups are, go to this link. Adam's class at school has been spending P.E. time learning about stacking cup competitions. And Adam has really enjoyed it. He's been asking for a set of his own for months.
He also received this talking globe. It's really cool. There are several geography related games and activities that come with it. Adam loves it.
And then on Saturday, we had another celebration for Adam. Saturday was his baptism day so we had family in town for a baptism/birthday celebration. It was a great excuse to have even more great food, but then again, who needs excuses? And Adam had another opportunity to open more presents. Can you beat that?
Here we are just before Adam's baptism. What a great day. We're so happy for Adam. He's a wonderful kid and we're lucky to have him in our family. Congratulations, Adam. And thank you to all of the friends and family that came to Adam's baptism. We really appreciate all of your support.

And one last little tidbit—just after we took this photo Adam told me, "Dad, you were standing on my foot." If you look at the photo, I guess I was.

Love the cake, love the celebrations and love the foot picture at the end.
I can't believe Adam is 8 already.
That blows my mind.

Happy Birthday Adam!!
And as for Ryan - I think he knew he was stepping on Adam's foot. It's the way a father keeps his son grounded on such an exciting day. Happy for you all.
