The Pinewood Derby

Indisputably, the most significant and memorable activity any young Cub Scout will participate in is the hallowed Pinewood Derby. And last night, Adam had his first foray into the racing lifestyle of the celebrated competition. Tensions ran high all evening, but when the dust finally settled, Adam was awarded the coveted "Most Aerodynamic Car" award. Does that mean his car was the fastest? Unfortunately, no. But his car "looked" amazingly fast. And that counts for a lot. The intimidation factor can't be underestimated. I'm almost sure that I saw a Scout or two "shudder" when they realized that they'd be racing against a car with almost zero wind resistance.

Congratulations to all the boys on a great evening of racing fun.
See what I mean when I say that, "tensions were running high?"
The track was a computer-monitored wonder that timed the cars down to a thousandth of a second.
The suspense is palpable!

You just can't beat the excitement at a Pinewood Derby. As a former Cubmaster I can attest to that! Great job, Adam!

I wonder what great shots you'd get when I saw you leaning precariously over the track at just the right angles! You certainly did capture the anxious looks of the waiting boys!

Fun night. Especially with it being my first time to a scout derby, I emjoyed sitting in the corner watching the boys' pride and the parents scrambling! :)

How fun! Tyler still likes to make a pinewood durby car with the elders corm every year. I think the excitment never leaves. And what about the color red. Must have been a popular color for cars this year. Looks like Adam had fun. What a great kid.

Way to go Adam!!!

In that one photo I can see that your heart has just about stopped. OH the anguish of it all.

Remember that day well with your dad and uncle Tyler. I really wish I had been there to see your success.
That is really one good looking car!
