I went to New York earlier this week on business. It was my first time to the big city so everything was new and exciting. I now realize that I've never really seen a city before. When measured against New York's standards, everywhere else feels more like a mere settlement. New York is massive to say the least. In between meetings, I was fortunate enough to take in some of the sights. So prop up your feet, relax and prepare to experience New York through the camera lens of an unsophisticated yokel from small town Utah.

Times Square at night.

New York from the observation deck (70 floors up) on the roof of the Rockefeller Center Building.

And from the other direction we see New York's Central Park.

The Chrysler Building.

What trip to New York would be complete without a trip into the bowels of the subway system? And the reason I say "bowels" is because that's precisely what it smells like.

The Brooklyn Bridge.

The New York Library.

The Statue of Liberty as seen from the Brooklyn Bridge walkway.

Ground Zero.

The famous Plaza Hotel.

And a must-see sight in New York—The Apple store near Central Park.

The food was great—and like New York, it too, was massive.

These guys were everywhere.

One of the many Central Park ponds.

I was able to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met).

The Met museum was amazing. There is so much incredible art all housed under one roof. Below is just a sampling.

Van Gogh.

Rembrandt.

Picasso.

Monet.

Degas.

I also went to the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA). Going to both "The Met" and the "MOMA" in one day is an amazing experience. Although, because of the huge breadth of work on display at both museums, I had to be pretty selective about the pieces I wanted to see. What an incredible day of enjoying great art.

The one-and-only Starry Night by Van Gogh.

Van Gogh.

Andrew Wyeth.

Piet Mondrian.

Picasso's Three Musicians.

Picasso.

Paul Klee.

And another Picasso.
And that's the whirlwind bumpkin tour of New York. Needless to say, I really enjoyed my first foray in the big city. Next time though, I'd like it to be a vacation rather than a business trip. It's hard to squeeze everything New York has to offer in between meetings.

I have always wanted to go to NYC. Your Pictures were amazing! Next time you will have to take Erica.
dy dy. i am kind of FREAKING OUT right now. we were in nyc at exactly the same time (i went to visit my best friends living in brooklyn) and we literally went to the exact same places. i wish wish wish we would've bumped into each other on the street or on the subway. oh, that would've been such a delight.
so glad you had a fun trip to the city!
Before moving to London, NYC was my favourite city in the world. I have been several times for dancing master classes, broadway musicals, and sight seeing. I love everything about that city from the cheesecake to the street performers to the knock-off handbags (which you cannot get in London). I am so glad that you were able to go have the ultimate NYC experience. I have found that with each new place I go and each new thing I see I become a little different in my understanding of the world and life. Glad you had this experience.
I'd love to go back WITHOUT kids and do all of that amazing stuff.
You saw a lot for a business trip! So envious. We took a bus tour and didn't do this well. Wish we could have spent another day there! Glad you got home safely without terrorists " getting ya"!
Fun, Fun, Fun! You should plan a family trip!
It sounds like you had a great time. I have never been to New York. Maybe one day.
Loved the pictures. Makes me want to go back. We were there in Sept. of 2009.
