It's Too Bad We Didn't Get The "Two For One" Special

Conner and Adam are tonsil and adenoid free today. If only they were pain-free as well. We've been told that a full recovery could take up to two weeks, so we've armed ourselves with prescription strength pain medication and antibiotics.

Their surgeries both went as well as can be expected and they came through with flying colors. It was comforting for both of them to have their surgeries at the same time on the same day.

Here's a breakdown of the day's events at the hospital:
The first thing that my boys found when they entered the same-day surgery ward is that video game systems are everywhere and reign supreme. The purpose of these strategically placed consoles is to lull nervous youth into a state of carefree abandon.
Here's Conner and Adam waiting for surgery after putting on their hospital gowns.
They were then led into another room with more video games. The games did a great job of assuaging any fears of their impending surgeries. When the anesthesiologist came to take Adam into surgery, Adam happily followed him as if he were the ice-cream man.
And here's Adam post-surgery. A little loopy, but no worse for the wear. He enjoyed the recovery room because he had a TV all to himself and as much root beer slush as he wanted—and he wanted A LOT.
Under the influence of lingering anesthesia, Conner was happy and making jokes when he was wheeled into the recovery room. His happy mood lasted for about 15 minutes until it was unfortunately replaced by a much more somber mood. So far, the surgery has been harder on Conner than it's been on Adam.
Here's Conner flashing signs to his peeps and being spoon-fed his first post-op meal—orange slush.

They're home now and skipping down the path to recovery. (Well, they're ambling, actually, but moving in the right direction) They're eating a lot of soft foods and slushy drinks. And don't worry, they're not neglecting the most important part of the recovery process— playing video games.
