Where's Adam?

We went to Old Navy today to do some back-to-school shopping. When we walked through the front door, we were greeted by a plethora of mannequins sporting the latest fashions. (see below)
We spent the better part of an hour finding clothing for the kids for the 2009-2010 school year and proceeded to the check-out counter. We were feeling pretty good about ourselves because we were able to keep track of all the kids during the entire shopping spree, which is an amazing feat in and of itself. But, (ah yes) as we were checking out, Adam slunk away unnoticed. It was only when we had finished paying and were walking out of the store that we took note of his absence.
"Where is he?"
"Have you seen him, Conner?... Abbie?"
We quickly started tactical efforts to locate our AWOL family member.
Just then, one of the Old Navy mannequins right in front of us started to move—one that looked exactly like Adam—one that we quickly realized WAS Adam. He started to laugh and said, "You didn't even see me!" "I was pretending to be one of these statues!"

It caught us so completely off guard that we had a really good laugh at finding him in such an unexpected way. But, a good laugh is a common occurrence with most of Adam's pursuits. He told us later how pleased he was with himself that he had "tricked all those people that came into the store who didn't even know I wasn't a mannequin!"

Adam gave away a valuable secret today without even realizing it. We now know that he CAN stand still.

That just shows how much your brain changes things to what you expect rather than what is really there. That is really funny though that he can pull off such a good joke.
